Mundane Skill: Robotics level 1.

He can now build robots! To a limited degree. He basically lacks finesse and things like magnetic servos. He could make battle bots all day everyday, but he couldn't make things like Megabot or Baymax. This does also include making other devices that would go into a robot, like sensors, and simple machines, and the like. I'm so sorry Cows.

Neutral Negative: Kindergarten's that way.

Based on part of a deleted scene. 1:47 to 2:05. Hiro is about seven in the memory. He's also in the sixth grade. He's in a math class, which he's actually enjoying while the teacher is talking. Sometimes he'll glance at the person who sits beside him, who smiles back whenever he catches his eye, but he's also fairly studious.

Then the bell rings, signaling the end of the day. The person who sits beside him already heading for the door, but he's taking a few moments longer, messing with his backpack. He needs the roller because he can't actually...carry....the heavy text books for long periods.

Then the kids talk to him, telling him he should be in kindergarten and the reaction is INSTANT. All the happy joy and peace he felt while learning is suddenly sapped away and he suddenly feels like nothing. He doesn't say anything, just stares at the ground, and wonder if this is where he's supposed to be.

Moments later, a hand is on his shoulder, the boy who sits next to him. He says they should get going, the bus will be there soon. Hiro nods and goes with him.

He doesn't talk, he doesn't mention the bullies, he doesn't say anything. The boy talks, trying to engage him about the homework and lessons and....and he knows. He knows he's TRYING. He's smart enough to realize it, but the words just seem to fall into that empty feeling in his chest.

They get to the cafe, and while Aunt Cass greets them, he just hurries upstairs to his room. He hears Aunt Cass asking if something happened to the other boy, but he doesn't listen to the answer. He just climbs into bed, shoes and all, and wraps himself in his blankets.

Wishes he wasn't so different.

Break Down
-Seven year old in sixth grade.
-LOVES LEARNING, it's so awesome, love math.
-Like whoever this kid is beside him, so fond.
-Class ends, can't carry those heavy books.
-Hello trained reaction at the smallest Pavlovian prompt.
-Empty feeling.
-Goes home with the boy.
-Boy tries so hard to get him to talk.
-Knows he's worried.
-But just....nothing feeling.
-Hides away in his room immediately.
-Thinks it might be better he was just a normal seven year old.

Meaning
So! Flare is aware he's somewhat sensitive. He's afraid of not being liked and being seen as a bother. However, he doesn't have SUDDEN PITS OF EMPTINESS at the smallest thing. He knows he can take a few shots without it being...that.

What this does is confirm what he suspected. He knows the school setting cow dorm had immediately set him on edge and when he was upset? The classrooms nearly sent him into panic attacks. He was bullied in school. Considering how instant and EXTREME his reaction was to that little, he was probably bullied a great deal because that was straight up Pavlovian. Especially if it made him doubt his intelligence, which is something Flare has wanted to regain the moment he realized he had it.

And he's....really not surprised how bad his reaction is because he talked to Riley about bullies and there was some Thoughts he just had and yeah. Yeah, that pretty much proved it was a thing.

He was small and young and too smart and people are jerks. ):

Good on the boy for trying for him though. Is that...hat guy? RESEMBLES hat guy, at least.

Neutral Positive: Tadashi to the rescue!

3:03 to 4:09.

Break Down
-AND GETTING DRAGGED OUT OF THE BOT FIGHT RING BY YAMA
-Against a wall, curling up and this is VERY FAMILIAR in the worst way.
-It'll be fine it'll be fine it'll be fine
-No hey, that's my bot!
-Oh shit.
-It'll be fine it'll be fine it'll be fine
-Just delay them until IT'S FINE.
-C'mon c'mon c'mon....!
-AND SUDDENLY LIGHT AND MOTOR AND GUYS ARE DOWN.
-Is it...?
-IT IS!
-So much joy and happiness, FUCK YES IT WORKED.
-TADASHI!
-Good timing!
-Knew it, knew it'd be fine, KNEW he'd come.
-Happy happy happy SO MUCH HAPPY.
-Adjusting helmet and pulling out remote.
-Gotta do it quick before Tadashi gets too fast.
-Aaaaand calling Megabbot back after a few hits for Yama. :)
-Watching behind them just to see if they're being followed, but nah, everything will be fine and awesome.
-Tadashi asking the standard questions.
-OW OW, must you hit?!
-Feels momentarily scolded.
-Gosh, doing such a cool, badass turn Tadashi.
-So used to this stuff, knows to adjust grip on Tadashi, doesn't worry for a moment he'll fall off.
-GRADUATED HIGH SCHOOL AT THIRTEEN.
-Man, just enjoying this ride man, who can even give your lecture any mind.
-Oh shit, might get caught by Yama.
-Oh my god.
-Oh my god, Tadashi doing a jump.
-SO COOL TADASHI.
-Get myself arrested.
-Yeah, UH HUH, that's your concern. Let me take you super serious with my rolling eyes.
-And bot fighting is not illegal.
-BETTING on bot fighting is illegal.
-But it's very lucrative.
-Why yes, Tadashi, I'm kind of a criminal.
-I'm on a roll!
-Big Brother!
-And my roll will not be stopped!
-....except for those cops who just pulled forward ahead of us.
-Whoops.

Meaning
HAT GUY IS NAMED TADASHI. Is also my big brother?! Well, it explains why he came home with him. Not so much for dinner with Aunt Cass, but he is significantly older? Maybe he's being an adult on his own?

Also Tadashi sure was his exit strategy, but there's a feeling that...maybe...this was kind of the point? The reason he's so happy that Tadashi is there isn't from relief. There was worry he was going to get hurt, but he was like ninety percent sure he was going to be FINE. Tadashi would come. Tadashi would save him.

He's remembered the bot fight, the hustling, all of it, but the joy of winning, of getting money, was NOTHING compared to how happy he was Tadashi was there.

Flare...is pretty sure the exit was the point. Yeah, beating Yama was fun, he likes the money, but having the fun escape with Tadashi was just so much BETTER. It might have been something they've done before? Because he sure wasn't taking the get arrested thing seriously and thought it was funny coming from Tadashi, so maybe they've done things before. (They totally went and did stuff that was illegal, usually sneaking into places and destruction of property. Nothing serious, but Tadashi was lead for those illegal ventures.)

Now WHY he's doing this, Flare isn't sure. (It's because Tadashi is busy at college and Hiro can't half ass his cries for attention.) He just knows he had more fun in that time then the illegal activity and dere levels are through the roof for bro.

Also he graduated at thirteen, so CONFIRMED GENIUS.

But in all seriousness, Hiro's journal when it involves Tadashi is either A) Tadashi is a nerd, B) How Hiro trolled Tadashi C) LET ME GUSH ABOUT HOW COOL AND AWESOME MY BROTHER IS HE IS THE ABSOLUTE BEST FOREVER. Also how Hiro hoards away Tadashi's stuff including thrown away sketches. Also Tadashi puts trackers in Hiro's hoodys which is why he knows when to go save him. Hamada brocon is real.
