Mundane Skill: Karate.

Tadashi taught Hiro material arts because too many bullies. Focused mostly on the evade, redirect, and escape, but there is some offense ability. It's just usually everyone is too BIG for Hiro to straight up fight, so far better at the more defensive abilities.

Mundane Skill: Kite building.

So on some supplemental material, one of Hiro's hobbies is kite building. Has all this tech nerd stuff and then KITE BUILDING. So Hiro builds kites and he likes it. He can go for simple, or some of those really over the top cool kites.

Mundane Skill: Programming.

Hiro can do most anything with programs. He writes his own programs that can read videos and translates them into moves a robot can follow. He can make his own OS, his own build programs, his own anything with a computer. This skill does not include neural interfaces. This skill does, however, include his own knowledge of AI making. And the thing is? He can't make more than basic AIs. He can't make a robot that can truly grow and adapt, Baymax is actually wholly beyond his ability to make at this point. He could fix and monitor errors, but nothing that comes from the ground up.

Mundane Skill: Super math knowledge

So the way Hiro was discovered as being a progidy? At five, he solved a math problem no other mathematician had solved. And this is before he had any schooling. So give him numbers and he'll have the answer for you in no time at all.

Trivial Positive: Stormy Weather

So this is a headcanon memory. I actually came up with it in a meme thread with a Tadashi and it was decided Aunt Cass listened to old music. Aunt Cass needs more time in Hiro's memories anyway, MOVIE UNDER UTILIZED AWESOME AUNT.

Hiro is in his room, playing a game on his computer when suddenly there's a loud thundering on the stairs and then Aunt Cass swoops in, looking quite...wound up. She turns the chair, startling Hiro, looking him over. She comments that good, he's clean, he needs to get dressed and come downstairs.

Hiro starts to complain, but Cass says one of her employees had a family emergency and they were already short staffed today and the cafe is full and isn't Hiro only a hundred dollars away for that new part he wants for his 3D printer on her way back downstairs. Hiro sighs in defeat because he can't NOT help out Aunt Cass and he really DOES need that money for the new part.

So he grabs his more 'professional' clothes, grabs an apron, and by the time he's gone from his room, to their home, to the cafe, he's plastered on 'customer service face,' and starts helping around the cafe. He's actually fairly good at it, and knows how to work everything. He's taking orders, working the register, making drinks, and even taking care of the kitchen whenever Aunt Cass has to run to do something else. Whenever Hiro is helping wait new customers, he puts on the most sweet, angel innocent face ever, and they all think he's adorable and he talks about how awesome his Aunt is, and how can he not help? Those tables all tip very well on average.

The staff are used to Hiro, and regular customers give him this knowing look because they all know Hiro is a little shit, and some tease him about his innocent act he has to maintain through the whole service, but whatever, he's getting his new part!

Things slow down and Hiro is just regulated to behind the counter, which is fine. He has all the money he needs from tips and from the pay from Cass, and he regularly doesn't even type everything into the register before giving totals because it's a cute party trick for the customers and it gets some extra tips. Some of the staff comment how they should have Hiro around more often when everyone, but the regulars have left and Hiro pulls a face and says no thank you. The sweet act gets real sickening after a while. (And he can't take interacting with THAT many people on a regular basis.) But everyone laughs because it's really kind of funny and Miss Matsuda, an eighty year old wearing a super small halter top and miniskirt, comments how such big doe eyes shouldn't be on a little hell raiser like Hiro. Where's the polite one anyway? Aunt Cass says Tadashi was working late on his project at school.

There is...some bitterness when Hiro hears that, but he pushes it away and agrees with Miss Matsuda, he really shouldn't have doe eyes, that's a power to great for anyway.

Everyone eventually leaves and apparently the employee that left was the one who was supposed to be closing with Aunt Cass, so by the end, it's just Hiro and Cass cleaning up. Hiro comments that Tadashi is probably going to be sleeping at SFIT again, letting his sulking show through this time. Aunt Cass tries to reassure him that Tadashi just has a big project, he'll be done eventually. Hiro just shrugs and keeps cleaning. He knows Aunt Cass is trying to help, but it's frustrating. (It's lonely.)

Aunt Cass finally puts on the radio to this radio station that plays really old songs. At first Hiro continues to sulk as he sweeps, but Aunt Cass starts singing and dancing everytime she passes him. It's...ridiculous. Very, very ridiculous, and eventually he cracks and smiles. Aunt Cass just adds more dramatics to her singing, and he laughs and Stormy Weather comes on, and he actually knows the lyrics to this song. So he joins in on the singing. In the end, they finish clean up, singing and dancing along with old songs. It takes longer, but it's more fun. By the end, Hiro is tired, but happy. Aunt Cass declares it leftover night, as in eating a few pre-prepared dishes from the cafe that would have to be thrown out by safety regulations anyway. They eat watching an old black and white movie and both end up falling asleep on the couch.

Break Down
-More of a look at his room.
-Aunt Cass knows how to get help from him, guilt and bribery.
-The cafe is fairly popular, apparently.
-Hiro is very good cafe worker, mostly from practice.
-VERY good at the sweet and innocent act.
-It gets very good tips.
-Everyone who knows him knows this is a lie.
-Various regulars of the cafe and some workers.
-He knows all the prices for everything in the cafe and knows how to calculate together the tax quicker than typing it into the register.
-Cafe workers think he'd do well being around more.
-Hiro can't be around that many people all the time and the act is kind of sickeningly sweet.
-Miss Matsuda, the eighty year old who wears clothes super not appropriate for her age, and cafe regular.
-Tadashi is known as the 'polite one' and has been spending a lot of time at school on a project.
-Hiro is very bitter on this fact.
-His mood, which had been pretty neutral because it was a good work day, but still a day around a bunch of people, tanks after this.
-He hides it until everyone, but Cass is gone, and then he let's himself sulk.
-Aunt Cass tries to comfort, but Hiro shuts her down, so alternatives!
-Aunt Cass likes old music.
-He kind of likes it too.
-Aunt Cass is ridiculous and will sing and dance in a ridiculous way to cheer him up.
-He joins in eventually because Aunt Cass is a hard woman to resist.
-His mood improves greatly and cue the singing and dancing while cleaning.
-Watching old movies, eating cafe leftovers, and falling asleep on couches, hell yeah.

Meaning
+1000000000000000 love for Aunt Cass.

Mostly it's a memory of Aunt Cass and the cafe. Hiro helping out is a common enough thing, though not 'regular.' Usually when Cass needs help, or Hiro needs money. He knows how to keep the ship running in whatever capacity because sometimes you gotta learn to keep up with your whirlwind of an Aunt.

And Flare was right, there was some reason he was acting out for Tadashi's attention. Apparently because he was at school? Might be why he was moody at Nerd Lab memory?

Hyper focus work may be a family trait. Hiro does it, Tadashi does it, Aunt Cass can do it because all that running around and cooking has to take work.

Old music and TV is pretty cool, actually.

Also confirmation, he can work with large groups of people. He doesn't like too. He likes to keep people at a distance, but he trusts Aunt Cass enough to be more honest. SO yay that.

Significant Positive: Hello. I am Baymax.

This video.

Break Down
-Following after nerd lab.
-He's feeling excited, but in a....kind of do not want to be, but still sort of am way?
-But.
-He wants to see what Tadashi has been working on.
-And Tadashi says he will and this is more genuine and pure excitement.
-What's with the duct tape though?
-Snarky snark.
-Wait, what are you-
-OW! WHY?!
-And suddenly inflating robot, what?
-Waddle waddle waddle Baymax.
-Bro, what did you make?
-Tadashi looks so proud right now.
-Baymax is a personal healthcare compansion.
-A robotic nurse?
-STILL SNARKING AT TADASHI.
-So betray, bro. So betrayed.
-And Tadashi is a little shit too.
-Hamada bros forever little shits.
-A basic physical scan.
-Allergy scan?
-Oh, that IS impressive.
-That sort of technology is still fairly NEW and Tadashi had coded them all into one basic scan?
-10,000 medical procedures.
-No WONDER he had all those all nighters.
-Made of vinyl to be a walking marshmallow and to be non-threatening and huggable.
-Heh, yeah, that's Tadashi.
-No offense. :)
-Was talking to Tadashi, but Baymax responded and said he can't be offended.
-Ooooh, what sort of programming did you DO Tadashi? =O
-Hyperspectral cameras, so cool.
-Carbon fibers skeleton, light, and strong.
-Oooooh, those actuators!
-Wait, he machined them IN HOUSE?
-That much delicate, precise work?!
-He can lift a thousand pounds?
-Trying to play it cool.
-Inside, there is ONLY SO MUCH SQUEEEEEEEEEEEING.
-My brother is so cool, Baymax is so cool, there is so much medical stuff that's usually different machines packed into one package, and such a powerful skeleton that can collapse, and there is SOME REAL GOOD AI WORK GOING ON TOP, HE ADAPTS TO NON-REGULAR PHRASES!!!!!
-Brodere brodere brodere.
-Some Baymax dere.
-Oh, yes, candy please, it's even red.
-I'm satisfied with my care.
-Tadashi says he's gonna help a lot of people.
-Heh, yeah, that's a Tadashi thing to say.
-Best bro.
-Lithium ion is a substandard battery, bro, you should get super capacitors, they charge faster.

Meaning
Tadashi is the one who made Baymax! Which explains why Hiro's programming skill was lacking when it came to AI construction, but it didn't feel like he was MISSING things. It's because Tadashi was the one who made Baymax's AI which is SO COOL. Tadashi can make a real, thinking AI that adapts and grows and can gain trust from people beyond just a normal machine.

Though Hiro is very curious is Tadashi knows he's using Baymax for crime fighting...and gave him armor. Whoops. Who knows what Tadashi knows, he is kind of squirrely.

Does...does that mean Tadashi might have made Baymax FOR HIRO? He is supposed to be personal.

Also despite how nice Tadashi is, he is also a little shit. This is good. This is the way of best friends.

SO MUCH TADASHI DERE, there are not enough zeros, and Baymax is so cool dere.

Also ending with feeling more positive about SFIT. He's not...CONVINCED to go yet, but he's deciding maybe it wouldn't be SO bad.

Trivial Negative: What would mom and dad say?

-1:35:20 to 1:34:36

Break Down
-Walking into his room and heading for the computer.
-Opening up to a website about bot fight locations.
-Tadashi walking in behind saying he needs to make this up to Aunt Cass before she eats everything in the cafe.
-Yep, uh huh.
-And Tadashi hopes he learned his lesson.
-Bonehead is a familiar 'nickname.'
-Absolutely did learn my lesson!
-Tadashi just LOOKS at him.
-And knows he's going bot fighting.
-Yeah, figured he would.
-But there's a fight across town!
-If I book it, I can make it!
-Grabbing Megabot and going!
-Erk!
-Aaaaand here comes the lecture.
-(And yet)
-(There's a part of him that's really happy.)
-(Tadashi is paying attention to hiiiiim.)
-Tadashi wants to know if he'll do something with his big brain.
-Pffffft.
-What?
-Go to college?
-To be told what I already know like Tadashi?
-Screw school anyway.
-So much hate for the thought of that skin.
-Unbelievable. Also a common thing to hear from Tadashi.
-He wonders what mom and dad would say.
-....it...hurts a bit.
-I don't know.
-Looking away, don't want to be upset about this.
-They died when he was three, he would never know what they'd say, he can't even remember them.
-He shouldn't be sad about strangers.
-He shouldn't.
-Tadashi throws him a helmet.
-He's...he's going to take Hiro bot fighting?!
-He can't stop Hiro, but he doesn't have to let him go alone.
-Yes, BONDING.

Meaning
His parents died when he was three. ): It's not...surprising, he knows he was with Aunt Cass when he was seven, so there was a reason they were out of the picture. Still, despite not remembering them, he still wishes he did.

Tadashi does not like his bot fighting. He does what he wants. And Tadashi will continue to pay attention to him. He doesn't want to be lectured, but he also kind of wants to be. Because attention.

BUT! BUT TADASHI WANTS TO COME WITH HIM? They have a botfight adventure maybe? But no, best outcome. Hanging with Taadshi and having bot fights and this is best idea.

Aunt Cass may eat when upset?

Also he didn't? Want to go? To college? Like really hated it. Nerd lab thing really turned his impression around apparently.

Neutral Neutral: Useless. Empty. Brain.

Break Down
-San Fransokyo Institute of Technology.
-There's a student showcase every year.
-Tadashi stapling up the picture for MOTIVATION.
-The one to impress is Callaghan, do that, and he's in.
-But it has gotta be great.
-Makes sense, he knows this guy won't be impressed by just ANYTHING.
-But he's confident.
-Grabs a journal and starts writing down ideas.
-So....so many ideas.
-All partials, because partway through, he realizes that no, that's not good enough.
-Too trite, too simple, too easy, been done before, no, he has no access to the nuclear materials necessary.
-Rips out the paper, throws it out.
-Probably some calls for food that he ignores.
-Aunt Cass or Tadashi occasionally big water or some easy to munch on food that he'll eat, but he doesn't turn his attention away from his work.
-Trashcan overfills with paper, he has to use a second notebook, paper EVERYWHERE.
-And just.
-Nothing.
-Everything isn't GOOD ENOUGH.
-Nothing.
-No ideas.
-Useless.
-Empty.
-Brain.
-Just smacking forehead against a desk like it's normal.
-So helpful, Tadashi.
-He's fourteen.
-Also it's NIGHT, so been doing this all day.
-But he has nothing!
-He's never getting in!
-OH, HELLO TADASHI, IN MY FACE.
-Not giving up on me.
-O-oh. '-'
-THESE ARE IMPORTANT WORDS.
-Theeeeeen Tadashi is grabbing his ankles.
-AND OFF THE CHAIR.
-Tiny Hiro is tiny and easy to lug around like a sack of potatoes.
-And Tadashi is very fit.
-Tadashi, WHY.
-Shake things up.
-Use that big brain to think his way out.
-Look for a new angle.
-THESE WORDS ALL FEEL IMPORTANT, in introspection at least.
-This all also feels very familiar.
-Tadashi just does this sort of stuff to break his internal loops.
-Not always the impromptu weird back ride, just THIS SORT OF THING.
-SIGH, fine fine.
-Accepts his fate of being a backpack until something happens.
-Looks around, trying to see something new, think of something different.
-Megabot.
-Farther away, looks smaller, and-
-Wait.
-Three parts that work together to make a powerful bot.
-But what if those parts were smaller? What if there were more?
-All tiny little pieces, working together for a goal.
-Oh, now that is an idea.

Meaning
Yep, hyper focus is a thing because that day sure did vanish. Who needs to eat and drink anyway? At least Tadashi and Aunt Cass know to feed him.

He REALLY wants to get into SFIT. Whatever else happened that night must have been awesome if he went from end of Baymax to that much dedication.

Also his conception of the Microbots! He's pretty sure, at least.

But as much as his hyper focus happens, so does creation blocks! Tadashi regularly helps him out of them. Tadashi is also a giant troll and this may be part of the process. Hiro is fairly used to Tadashi just manhandling him. Which is interesting as he doesn't like being touchy with others.

Tadashi is not giving up on him. Those words MEAN A LOT. It doesn't seem to be an in the moment importance, but there are feelings that have been attached in hindsight. Those words are important. Tadashi's belief, looking for a new angle. Even if Hiro is not acing something easily, Tadashi wants him to keep trying, to see things differently. More than that, Tadashi won't give up on him, will believe he can do things even when it's hard. That's important. That's super important even if Flare doesn't know why yet.

But he's starting to think maybe the superhero thing was inspired by Tadashi. Because it's Tadashi who wants to help people. It's Tadashi who supports and helps him be better. Tadashi is someone who believes and helps him be a better person, and maybe that's why he started to believe he could be.

There is so much love for his brother forever.
